Mission: Save Democracy
Formed in 2021, we are a non-partisan grassroots coalition of Southwest Missourians who believe that:
• Our most precious right as Americans is the right to vote, and have our votes counted.
• A well-educated society is the key to a healthy democracy. We vigorously oppose book banning, and support the American Free Press.
• Every eligible citizen who wants to vote should be able to vote, and vote easily.
Our democracy is under attack from within
The state legislature is trying to make it harder for Missourians to approve laws by ballot initiatives. It is now illegal to register more than 10 voters without the Secretary of State's permission. You can’t provide water or food to people volunteering to register voters. Book banners are infiltrating our school boards. The American Free Press is under attack like never before. Education is vital to the survival of a free society. We must fight back to protect democracy for current and future generations.
The Pillars of Democracy
• Voting rights: Every eligible citizen who wishes to do so should be able to vote easily, and have their votes counted.
• Public education: We must produce well-educated citizens who have access to diverse viewpoints. We vigorously oppose book banning and suppression of thought.
• A Free Press: Freedom of the Press is crucial to a healthy democracy. Successful attacks on a free press almost always precede implementation of autocratic forms of government.
